Kalkan Automation and Control Systems Co. Ltd. has been established in Istanbul in early 2001. Mr. Umit Kalkan, the company's general manager having a MSc. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, is the founder and dominant partner of the company bearing the same name with his last name.

Mr. Kalkan has a MSc. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. He has assumed various positions in many reputable local and international companies operating at home and abroad before the establishment of Kalkan Otomasyon Ltd. Sti. He has worked for a period more than fifteen years in research and development engineering, project design, commissioning, pre-and post-sales support and project management areas in electronics and telecommunication sectors. He has decided to make use of his engineering and management experiences accumulated in the fields he has worked by establishing his own company in 2001.

Our company has been established to operate in the areas of material procurement, engineering and turnkey projects and contracting services in the field of electrical and electronic engineering in industrial automation and control systems industry continuing to grow and develop in Turkey with each passing day.

During the first three years since the founding of our company, developing business partnerships in material supply has been the main target. In this context, an agreement has been signed in 2001 for the representation and distributorship services in Turkey with DATAFORTH Corporation located in Tucson-ARIZONA-USA manufacturing data acquisition and signal conditioning modules. In the same year, the agreement for Turkish representation and distributorship has been signed with Taiwan-based ICP-DAS Co. Ltd. which is among the world's leading organizations in manufacturing industrial data acquisition and signal conditioning modules, industrial programmable controller units, protocol converters and industrial data transmission devices. We continue to pursue these distributorships with good success today.

During the first three year, we have completed the necessary infrastructure studies required in marketing of products of foreign companies that we are carrying out the distributorships, and in giving pre-sales and after sales support for those products. Apart from the technical support for pre-and post sales we extended to end-user enterprises that use our products, by the time we have become supporting our system integrator customers using our products in their projects, in design, product selection, commissioning and troubleshooting issues.

During the next years after our third year, besides our representation activities, in the direction to meet the needs of the sector, we have channeled our studies toward undertaking turnkey project-contracting works, carrying out system integratorship and producing special solutions. The projects we have completed with success in many sectors such as energy, fast-moving consumer goods, metals, food, beverages, petroleum and so on continue to work smoothly and help our customers to produce higher added value with lower costs. The products used in the projects we developed consist of both the products of the companies we are representing, and the products of other local and foreign companies we have developed solution partnership and system integratorship relationships in Turkey.

Our company, during the last five years, is giving each year more importance in the research & development activities in increasing proportion, and is continuing to strengthen its position in the sector each passing day with self-produced electronic devices and complete system solutions.
