INTRODUCTION
ETHERNET / Serial converters are bridges between the Ethernet and RS-232/422/485. These converters also work as device servers. Given TCP port numbers at the IP address of ETHERNET / Serial converters are directly associated and connected to matching serial ports of these devices. Thus, a socket connection to a specific TCP port on the device will directly communicate to the serial port which is associated with that TCP port.
ETHERNET / Serial convertor is the most cost effective method to combine your original serial device with Ethernet communication ability.
With the models where a limited number of digital input and outpus are available, another TCP port is reserved for controlling these discrete I/O terminals. Using that TCP port, user can read the status of inputs and set the states of outputs.
VxCOMM driver software can be used at PC side in order to set-up an eaasy to use virtual serial comm port application.
I-7188EN series converters are from the same hardware family with I-7188EX controllers. Firmware running on the converter can be updated anytime. A free SDK is also available for the users who want to develop their own application and run it on I-7188EN series convertors.
